Paris-born Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010) was a transatlantic figure who spent most of her life in New York, where she settled in 1938 before becoming a naturalised American in 1957. An immense sculptor with a polymorphous practice, she was recognized and celebrated much earlier in the United States than in France. Marie-Laure Bernadac, a leading specialist in her work, invites nine artists from both sides of the Atlantic to express their views on this major artistic figure of the 20th century. Their contributions show how Louise Bourgeois continues to fascinate younger generations of artists.
