Déplier l’ordinaire (Unfolding the Ordinary) - Elsa Noyons: This publication in French is a continuation of the visual arts project by artist Elsa Noyons, a local resident at the time. Initiated as a field survey and a careful reflection on the notion of “inhabiting”, this project took shape through the drawing of maps and inventories. The book reproduces all the pages in the first edition, with the addition of four new maps: Strategic places linked to the Paris Commune, Struggles and the anti-racist movement in the Goutte d'Or, Police violence and corruption and Painted frontages. “Déplier l’ordinaire is a collection of narrative maps, drawings and inventories. A work of observation, investigation and deciphering of urban life in the Goutte d'Or district, where I lived between 2016 and 2020. It is an invitation to look at the different layers that make up an area using cartography and inventory as a narrative tool and that, as a whole, form the tangible identity of a place. An invitation on a journey into what makes up everyday life, aiming to dismantle the fantasies about working-class neighbourhoods like the Goutte d'Or.”
