Clay
Prometheus shaped mankind from clay, and Athena breathed life into his creation. The emergence of life from clay features in ancient mythology, literature and thought. In Antiquity, across civilizations as diverse as Egyptian, Greek, Chinese, Inca and Māori, a shared belief existed in gods creating flesh and blood from clay. There were even suggestions that clay minerals served as genetic materials, indicating that they could have played an active role in the origin of life.
The second volume by photographer Jean Pierrot offers a unique visual and tactile experience exploring nature and the human body.
