Kim Harlow, récits
In the 1990s, Kim Harlow played a key role in the work of Bettina Rheims, particularly in the series Modern Lovers and Les Espionnes, which explored issues of gender. This book traces their privileged relationship, offering a unique insight into the creative process through rare archives. Rheims met Kim Harlow, a transgender dancer and cabaret performer, in 1990 during the casting for Modern Lovers.
Their encounter later inspired the series Les Espionnes (1991-1992), focusing on trans identity. From their connection emerged the photographic project Kim (1994), a poignant testimony from Kim Harlow about the AIDS crisis, revisited here through the artist's archives.
